CureSearch Applauds the U.S. House of Representatives Taking the First Steps to Fund Childhood Cancer Research

Bethesda, MD — CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation applauds The House of Representatives for requesting that $10M be directed to fund pediatric cancer research at the National Cancer Institute. This will provide funding for the Caroline Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Act that was signed into law in July 2008.

Until now, there was no allocation to fund the Act and given the tight economy, it was questionable as to whether the funding would be appropriated by Congress. As a response to this, last month CureSearch hosted an event that brought 450 children impacted by childhood cancer, survivors, their friends and families, and caregivers to Washington, D.C. to urge their congressional representatives to fund pediatric cancer research.
